How Time Flies

Oh dear...how time flies when you are resting at home. I just can't believe it that I'm left with about a week more before the new school term begins on 2nd January 2008. Well, better make full use of the remaining time to enjoy what's left of my holidays. Hope that by the time school term begins I won't have much of a problem with my pregnancy as I am currently undergoing.

I am supposed to write in here with regards tomy Hari Raya Haji celebration....once I have uploaded all the photos, I will come back here to share with you.

Till then, God bless...

BBQ @ Home

I had lots of fun (minus the exhaustion) barbecuing at home. Well, I promised to take some photos to show you guys where I normally do my barbecuing at home but, I should apologise to you as I had totally forgotten about it because there some unexpected turn of events throughout the day. Now, the next time around that I have a barbecue session at home, I will try to remember to take some snapshots of hubby and my god-brother grilling the food.

The first thing we did in the morning (but not so early...it was about 10.30a.m.) was to go shop for some barbecue items at a nearby supermarket. Before shopping, we had our breakfast first. I ate a bowl of wanton noodle and hubby ate a bowl of mee rebus. Hana shared the food with me. Then, as we were getting the things from the supermarket, arranging them in the trolley, mum called me on my mobile saying that a former neighbour, who hasn't come to visit for a very long time, Cik Hajrah, was coming over to mum's place. Since mum wanted to join us for the barbecue, she asked me for permission to bring Cik Hajrah along. Of course I said YES! How can you ever say NO to someone who wants to visit you at home unless you want your own privacy and rest on that day? It was supposed to be a day of fun...so I told mum to "drag" Cik Hajrah along.

At about 2p.m. they arrived at my place. We didn't strat barbecuing immediately as my plan was to start in the latrer part of the afternoon. Thank goodness I bought 4 packets of chicken rice to serve Cik Hajrah and her grandaughter and mum. So, mum, Cik Hajrah and her grandaughter, Nisa, had chicken rice for lunch.

Hubby started the fire at about 5.30p.m. It was a slow start and he was getting irritated. It turned out to be that we bought the wrong kind of charcoal...the ones that take alot of time to burn. Fortunately, my neighbour, kak Yati was around. She still had some leftover charcoals from her previous barbecue session at Changi Beach. So she passed the bag to hubby. Only by using the charcoals that Kak Yati gave that the charcoals were burning well! Alhamdulillah....or else, hubby woudl have to rush to the nearby minimart to get another pack of charcoal.

Then as mum, Cik Hajrah and myself were seating and chit-chatting to one another, my god-sister, Kak Intan, called and said that she was around my area, attending a wedding function. She aske dif mum was at my place and of course, I said YES. Upon hearing that mum was here, she decided to come over and relax at my place with her family. Of course at this point of time, she wasn't aware that we were having a barbecue....I was quite worried that there won't be enough supply of chicken wings, prawns, fish and cuittlefish to go around. So I had to tell her the truth that we were having a BBQ session at home. So I asked her to get some more prawns and chicken wings. In the end she didn't buy any as the supermarket taht she went to sold very expensive prawns and chicken wings. Then I remembered that I had another pack of chicken drummets in the freezer. I bought that pack more for me to cook some other dish on other days but it seemed that I had use it up first for the BBQ.

Then when Kak Intan arrived, she brought along some other food items. Her huuby then went to the kitchen and prepared garlic bread for all of us. It was FANTABULOUS as it was freshly made and baked. It was a WOW! They also bought some instant waffles and a tub of ice-cream(that was supposed to be the dessert) which we ended up not eating because, believe or not, there was too much food to finish! And to think that there won't be enough food to go around. How naive! No, not being naive...just making sure that everyone could enjoy eating without having to worry whether to leave some for a person or 2. In fact, in the mdist of all those activities, my big brother came. he was not aware that were having the BBQ. He came because he knew mum was here and he wanted to see Hana. Well, still, there was ENOUGH food!

All in all, it was a fun day. Everybody went back at about almost 12 midnight. That left hubby and me BBQ-ing outside the house. That's when Kak Yati and her 2 sons joined us and we chit-chatted outside the house and BBQ-ing till almost 3a.m.! How's that?

And today...what time did I wake up from sleep? 11.45a.m.! Haahaha...only to be awaken by terrible hubby reminding me that we're to attend a wedding function at Tampines. There goes my sweet dreams.

Now I have to get ready for the function. Will write in here again soon.

Bye........

Something New

I think, from today onwards, I will do something more meaningful in this blog. What will I do besides posting my interesting stories? Hmm....I would like to share new words with all my readers. How is it going to happen? Everyday, I will introduce a word , equipped with it's definition and it's usage in a sentence. I hope that by doing so, it will help you and me learn a new word everyday. Isn't it cool? If I am doing it in class with the pupils (it's called WORD POWER -WORD BANK), why can't I do it here for us, adults? Oh, please welcome this idea of mine..Hahahaha....

NATIONAL DAY 2007

AIDILFITRI 2007

Well, I have yet to upload the pictures taken at the zoo when hubby and I brought Hana there on the 1st of December 2007. Hopefully I am feeling O.K. this weekend as we are planning to bring Hana to Jurong Bird Park and hopefully it doesn't rain!!!!
Do wait for more pictures to be uploaded here.
Bye!

Perrgghhh.....

Arrgghh.....I am unable to sleep tonight..I have been awake since 2a.m! This is terrible and this has been going on for quite a while now. When is it going to end? Do hope that it will end soon before the school term begins or I will in deep trouble, not being able to focus at work due to sleepiness during the day time.

Hmm....so what do I normally do when I am not sleeping while others are enjoying the cold night? First...I will do some reading. Read what? Well, sometimes I will read verses from the Holy Qur'an and sometimes, it's the Reader's Digest that keeps my sleepless nights going. AND sometimes, I will end up surfing the internet, searching for great recipes for me to try out during the holidays, searching for courses and fun interactive websites for Hana.

Hubby is getting up soon to get ready to go to work. Luckily I have already cooked the rice at 4.30a.m. just now. Right now, all I have to do is to re-heat the dish for him to bring to work for lunch. It's quite normal for hubby to bring packed lunch to work because the canteen at his work place doesn't serve good, delicious food. Anyway, home-cooked food is still the BEST! Hahaha...even though most of the time the home-cooked food comes from my mother's kitchen! Well, what to do? I am not a great cook...frankly speaking, still learning to cook up hubby's favourite dishes. After 3 years of being married to hubby, I thank Allah for having such a patient and understanding husband who doesn't complain about his wife's cooking. In fact, hubby is so O.K about me not cooking at all..but I do feel guilty. How can I not cook at all for him, especially now that it's the school holidays and I have the whole time in the world to do simple cooking? Hmm....But...on the other hand, I find it difficult to go to the kitchen to do any cooking nowadays because I get tired very easily...after doing the household chores in the morning(which is a dread at this present moment), all I want to do is just SLEEP! But I can't as I have to keep Hana company and mornings are the times that she wants me to do reading with her, well, at least for the 1 hour before Sesame Street starts at 9a.m.

Oopss....it's already 6.05a.m....time for me to re-heat the dishes and pack hubby's lunch. Shall come back after packing his lunch and hanging the laundry(left the clothes in the machine to be washed over night).

See ya....

Cold, Lazy Day

Today I woke up to a very cold morning. In fact, due to the coldness, I was so lazy to even open up my eyes. However, lot's of washing to be done because last night Hana was not feeling too well. She had a series of diarrhoea and vomitting and had caused hubby and me to change our bedsheet 3 times!

This morning, Hana woke up late....not her usual self though. Normally she will be awake by 7a.m. but today, she woke up at almost 9a.m! Well, she must be tired from the diarrhoea and vomitting last night. Never mind, let her rest...she needs the energy to carry out whatever naughty activities that she will carry out today.

Well, back to my earlier note...Although I could see the sun coming out this mroning, it was still cold in the air. I was very happy to see the sunshine because I need to hang all the bedsheets and pillow cases and all the clothes that I have not washed for the past 3 days! Now that I have already done all those chores, it's time for me to rest. I am having a terrible backache now...hmm...not sure why...I didn't even do any bending activities nor carry too heavy an object. I didn't mop the floor too...all I did was just to vacuum it...when hubby comes back, he wil help me to mop the floor...both downstairs and upstairs! Hahahah....BUT, hopefully he has no OT today or else the mopping will have to be postponed!

I hope it won't rain today as it had rained interminably for 2 days and I have been super lazy to go to the supermarket to get some things for me to cook. What shall I cook today? I don't know. Anything that contains coconut milk is totally out for me...there's no way I could ever swallow such dishes. Let me check what I have in the freezer. If I am not wrong, I have some cuttlefish. Maybe I will just cook cuttlefish today and fishball soup for Hana.

Well, better head for the kitchen now or Hana will end up eating fast food again for lunch!

Chowzzz....

A Day at the Zoo

On Saturday, 1st December, hubby and I brought Hana to the Singapore Zoological Garden as she had been bugging us for quite some time to bring her there.

We woke up early in the morning as I had to prepare some food (reason being....I am unable to eat hawker food for now). So...what did I prepare? Well, just sardine sandwich(even the sardine had to be cooked with sambal, just to kill off the fishy smell as the fishy smell will cause tremendous nausea to me), egg sandwich and seaweed chicken for Hana.

At 10am, we were set to go. Hana was very excited...no doubt about it...she loves going to the zoo to see all the different kinds of animals available. I am happy to see her excitement.

When we reached there.....there were so many visitors, locals and foreigners alike! It's obvious isn't it.....as it's during the school holidays! Ok...so the journey around the zoo began....Not long after, I started to feel the cramps in my tummy! Arrgggghh....this is what I hate most! Due to the tummy cramps, we had to move around the zoo at a much slower Thankfully, hubby understood my condition. He was very understanding and supportive, helping me to carry the bags and handle Hana all at the same time.

We spent the whole day there, till the closing time. The last destination we headed to was the Children's Playland. Hana had a fantabulous time playing with the other children(being over-friendly, she was the one going around making friends even though some children didn't want to play with her). Well, whatever it is, I enjoyed looking at the friendliness and confidence in her. On top op that, I should say that I am very proud with Hana. She displayed great graciousness while playing at the playground with the other children. She would make sure to take turns and willingly allowed others to go down the slide first before she did so. which I saw lacking in the other children playing there. Most of the children there...would just brush her aside, rushing among one another to be the first to go down the slide. However, Hana was very cool and relaxed. She maintained a calm composure!

Well...everything good thing will come to an end. As the time came nearer for us to leave the zoo, Hana was reluctant to go. She wanted to continue playing. It was a tough time persuading her to go home as I was already feeling super, super lethargic and lifeless! Eventually, she admitted defeat.

I will find time to post some of the photos in here soon. But for now, I have to go. Need a nap very badly.

Till then, God bless...

Release of PSLE Results (2)

Finally...the time has arrived to announce the results. Both parents and pupils were anxious to get the results from the respective form teachers. Before the pupils received thair results, my principal gave a short briefing to all parents with regards to all the important dates that they should remember pertaining their children's choosing of secondary school and postings.

When the time finally came for the results, all pupils and parents were eager and excited, not forgetting nervous. Some parents kept their calm while others....it was very obvious that they were more nervous than their children.

Of course....there were pupils who did exceptionally well, some who fairly made it through and a handful who have to repeat their Primary 6 course next year. Well, for those who are repeating, they should spend this holiday starting to prepapre themselves for the next academic year. On the other hand, for those who are moving on to the secondary school, my best wishes to them for a whole new journey towards achieving greater success in a new environment.

Hence, I should say it was a time or joy and for some, it was a time to let off their disappointment and sadness. It's alright to cry it out but at the same time, should learn from their mistakes and move to do their very best next year.

Now...what's important is for you to ask yourself....have you done your very best this year? If you have and should you have not done well, try harder next year. If you have and should you have done well, you deserve the great results and the progress to move on to a secondary school of your choice.

Whatever it is, my best wishes to one and all!

Till then, God bless...

Update...

I will be teaching Primary 4E next year...Alamdulillah....my wish to be in the morning session is granted....I am jubilant!

Release of PSLE Results (1)

Today is the day that all P6 pupils will go through either with pride, dignity or total disappointment. Why? It's because the PSLE results will be released at 12 noon today. Right now, all the P6 teachers and Key Personnels are gathered at the meeting room to have the first glimpse of the results that have been received earlier in the morning. They will be the first people in the school to know of the results...the rest of us are waiting patiently to hear the good news (hahaha...hopefully, it's really good news for all of us!).

To all those who have done well in the PSLE, Congratulations to you people. For those who have failed and need to be retained next year, my advice....pull up your socks and better start preparing for next year from now!

Whatever it is, I am still waiting to know the results of the pupils in this school. Till we get the news at 12 noon....Stay tuned...

It's That Time of The Year...

It's that time of the year....when the level that we are teaching next year will be announced. Well, according to some of my colleagues, the Head will announce our level later after lunch. All of us had received an announcement just now during lunch that all staff are to be in Raffles Room at 1.30p.m. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is eager to know my class for next year.

Of course we welcome this change (announcement of level to be taught for the following year at the beginning of the holidays). It's better for us to know earlier so that we can do the necessary preparations during the holidays. What's more, I heard quite a number of my colleagues aren't travelling out of Singapore this December holidays. So, obviously, they will be glad to know their classes for next year in advance.

On top of that, besides knowing the level you are teaching next year, what teachers are also concerned is whether they are being given the session that they had requested for. I heard alot of my colleagues had asked to be in the morning session. I guess, it's almost the same everywhere else. The morning session is the more popular choice between the 2. Well, I asked to be in the morning too and hope that my wish will be granted. I have been in the afternoon session for the past 3 years. It's time for me to have a change of experience and environment by teaching in the morning.

Whatever it is, let's wait and see what the Head has in store for us at 1.30p.m. For now, I think I'd better log off and continue with my administrative duties before all of us leave the school this Friday for a looooooong holiday.

Till then, God bless...

P/s: Will update you peepz regarding the level I will be teaching next year soon.....

Good, Happy News for Hubby and Me

Hi...it's been a while since I wrote in here...almost 2 weeks I guess. Well, have been rather busy with school work....you know, the end of the year....busy with keying in results and preparing the report books for the pupils.

Anyway...however busy I am, however tired I am, I should say that I am in cloud nine lately...to be precise, since last Saturday when my gynae, Dr Lawrence Ang, confirmed my pregnancy. How far along am I? At the present moment that I am writing I am 7 to 8 weeks along. Well, of course it's still early to announce my pregnancy...but I am too happy as I have been trying to conceive for the second one since eary this year.

But I should say that this second pregnancy is way, way different from the first one. When I was carrying Hana in me for 10 months, I had no problems at all. On the other hand, this pregnancy has seen me falling sick a couple of times, with terrible stomach cramps. I will feel super-tired by late afternoon and what I will normally do is just sleep from about 4pm to about 6pm almost everyday! Can you believe it? It's that tiring! However, I am praying that it is only for the first trimester.

Having said that, I am delighted to have been able to write in here to announce my pregnancy to the whole world...ahahaha....

Till then, God bless...

Marking Day

It's marking day today. So much work had to be completed within 5 hours. Firstly, what I did was to compute the pupils' attendance for the whole year. Then, keyed in pupils' marks in the Cockpit system. The only results that I have not received yet is the Chinese Language Paper. Looks like the CL teacher will only pass the results to me tomorrow. Oh dear...what a rush. If only I could get it by today...then I can already calculate the results to find the top 3 pupils in the class to be prize winners for the Prize Giving Ceremony on 15th November 2007.

Now...I still have another task...that is to complete the class' remarks by tomorrow so that Mdm Z will have ample time to check my remarks before we start printing the result slips to be put in the pupils' report books.

I am so tired....But, looking forward to 1pm...that's when I will be able to knock off from school, head back home and jump onto the bed for a good rest!

Till then, God bless...

A Sleepy Headstart...

What a sleepy headstart to this week..Term 4, Week 7....This is the week that pupils start their year-end examinations...and it will go on till next week. It's sure gonna be a tiring 2 weeks for me with all the exam markings and what not...

Having my free period now. Just feel like dozing off for a while but I know if I were to do so, I will end up not being able to wake at 9.50a.m to go back to class.

Ok...better get back to work. Gonna prepare some powerpoint slides for the Oral practice with the class later.

8th Day of Syawal

Today is the 8th day of Syawal....More visitings to be done today. However, got to wait for my brother- and sister-in-law's families to arrive as they have not come to our place yet for Hari Raya. My bro-in-law is working today and so that means we will only start our visiting rounds in the afternoon after 3pm.

Hubby, Mummy and I initially decided to visit some of Mummy's relatives in Yishun area earlier today but both Hana and Adam were sleeping so soundly till 2.15p.m....and on top of that, Nadia Al-Insyirah had called Mum to inform her that Bik Wati and her were already on their way to Mum's place so our plan to go to Yishun had to be shelved till tomorrow.

We are planning to rent Jerry's car for tomorrow. Have already sms-ed June about it but yet to receive confirmation from her. Hopefully nobody is renting their car tomorrow or else we may have to end up taking cab throughout the whole day tomorrow and it will surely cost quite abit 'cos we are going around the whole island of Singapore as Mummmy's relatives are located throughout the island!

In terms of visiting friends and relatives for the past 1 week, we have only managed to visit our neighbours' houses and my former neighbours' houses in Marsiling. We have so many more peopel to visit for this Hari Raya. I wonder if we can ever cover all the places within a month(as it is...we won't be able to go away from our area during the weekdays because by the time we come back from work and get ready, it's almost 8pm)! On top of that, Hana is not with Hubby and I on weekdays as Mummy is taking care of her. She only comes back on Friday evenings so that means our visitings have to be carried out on Ftriday nights, Saturdays and Sundays.

Hmmm....it's almost 3pm but Hubby has yet to receive call from his brother to inform him that they are on the way here. We are getting ready now and if my in-laws are late, we are going to our neighbour's house first while waiting for them.

Since this 'queen mother' needs to get ready and polish up her face...hehehehe....I'd better sign off now before 'Big Boss' makes a lot of noise about me taking my own sweet time to get ready. Hahaha...

Till then, God bless...

PSLE Marking

Today is the 3rd day of PSLE marking. Unfortunately, I am not involved in the marking exercise, together with 2 other permanent teachers and 6 contract teachers. What do we have to do? We still have to report to school at 8 every morning and leave the premise at 5p.m. The last 2 days were spent preparing certificates and ribbons and what-nots for the Prize Giving Ceremony. Today, we were assigned to find evidences for SEM report. By 9.40a.m, I had completed my share of searching for the evidences.

Not that I have totally completed finding the evidences. It's just that I am unable to continue today because the person whom I am supposed to go after, is on leave today. Hopefully he will be back tomorrow.

So, for the next 6 hours or so, I will try to finish up the SA2 Compo marking so that I can enjoy my Hari Raya visits during the weekend and hence, exchange the papers with another colleague on Monday.

Oh...I am feeling hungry now and there's nothing to eat. Let me check in the pantry if there's any biscuit for me to munch. This is the trouble when you are not occupied. You will end up binging on food....so...that says about my body size huh? Hahahaha....

Alright...better get back to my marking.

Till then, God bless...

The Day Has Come...

Selamat berhari Raya....
Ucapanku untuk semua...
Maaf dipinta dan diberi...
Semoga ikatan berkekalan abadi...

Yeay....!!!! Finally...the day has come...it's the 1st of Syawal. It's the time to celebrate this festive joyous occasion with beloved Hubby and Hana.

As I am typing this blog, I am at my mum's place, waiting for my brother- and sister-in-law to come here to fetch my family to Obek Eda's house in Hougang. That will be the last house for today. We didn't go to many houses today. As usual, the first day of Syawal will be used up to go to parents-in-law's place in Pasir Ris, Hubby's uncle's house in Serangoon, Mum's place in Marsiling, then it's Home Sweet Home! However today, my in-laws have planned to go to Obek Eda's house at night...so, here we are, waiting for my in-laws to arrive.

Managed to snap some photos at home before leaving for Pasir Ris. Enjoyz....

Till then, God bless...

With the help of my fantastic neighbour, helmi, we managed to have a nice photo taken as all the previous photos were "spoilt" by Hana showing funny faces.

Counting Down

Exhaustion aside, lethargy ignored...I am now looking forward, rather, counting down to the 1st of Syawal. That's when we, Muslims, will celebrate the joyous occasion after going through the most testable period during the month of Ramadhan. I just ca't wait to enjoy all the sumptous dishes that Mom is going to prepare.

This evening I will go to Causeway Point to get another pair of shoes for Hana and Hubby. Hana has already got 2 pairs of shoes...but me, being kiasu, wanting my daughter to put on matching shoes and costume accessories, have been shopping like MAD for her. Always insufficient number of dresses, traditional costumes and what not. I'd better stop this very bad habit before my account runs dry...hahahaha.....

Whatever it is, Hari Raya is the best time for children and I will not allow my princess to miss the fun.

Having said that, here's wising all Muslim counterparts....Eid Mubarak!

Till then, God bless...

Super Lethargic

Arrgghhh...I am so tired! There's no way can I ever describe how tired I am these few days and I am sure this will go on till next week. Have been busy baking cookies at Mom's place I don't have a baking oven at home(should get 1 by end of this year so that I can do all the bakings at home instead of travelling to and from Mom's place every day).

I thought teaching in the morning will give me ample time to bake cookies in the afternoon. Well, it may be the case but for my situation, it's different. The moment I reach Mom's place, Hana expects me to entertain her all the way. How to bake cookies when I have to sit and play with her? In the end, I am left with only 2 to 3 hours to do the baking. Well, of course that's insufficient timing because preparing the ingredients itself requires some time. I can't get Mom to prepare the ingredients for me because there will be 2 'monsters'(Hana and Adam) who will disturb her everytime she is in the kitchen. So everything falls solely on me.

This year is also the first year that we are not accepting any orders of Hari Raya cookies and dishes as I just could not find the time to spare to bake for other people. Hubby's former colleagues have been bugging him about this year's supply of cookies and dishes. We are terribly sorry to disppoint them this year but at the same time, we do hope that they do accept our reasons for not being able to accept their orders.

So for this week and next, I will be going to Mom's place immediately after school just to do the baking. Over the weekend, we are going to bake pineapple tarts and 'makmur'. These two cookies take alot of time to do and I hate doing them but no choice lah...Mom doesn't want to buy these 2 traditional kuihs from other people. I wonder when I am going to find the time to decorate my own home when I am so busy at Mom's place. Hopefully Hubby will be able to help me do all the last minute decorations this weekend as he won't be going to Mom's place.

I am sure I will be dog-tired by Hari Raya. Mom also needs help in cleaning up her home for the Hari Raya. It's difficult to get the others in the house to help with the cleaning. t's very frustrating! I have to clean my house, clean up my mother's house and do all other chores for both houses! What do they take me for? A maid???? It's all because they know that I can handle all these things by myself. But then, it's unfair isn't it?

Ok, ok...I'd better not nag. I am tired but I still have markings to complete. Better go back to my marking or else I won't be able to go back on time today!

Till then, God bless...

Happy 1st Birthday Adam!

Today is Adam's (my nephew) 1st birthday. Well, a year ago, he was born prematurely. At the time of birth, he was so tiny...just the size of a palm(or just slightly bigger). He had tubes all over him. It was a painful sight to see such a minute baby being kept in the incubator with wires everywhere. He was in the ICU for about 1 month before being transferred to another special nursery. I can't remember what that nursery is called.

However, looking at Adam today, a year later, so much has changed. He has grown alot(even though still very small in size). He is so smart and I am sure he will grow up to be a handsome young man. But Adam, being handsome only is not enough, OK. You must be well-mannered, well-respected, intelligent and be someone who can contribute to the nation positively. I am sure his parents will take good care of him and bring him up well so as not to spoil his future.

I don't have his photos in hand at the moment. Will find time to upload some pics one of these days.

Till then, God bless...

2nd Day of PSLE

Today is the second day of the PSLE. Pupils are sitting for the Math paper today. I am crossing my fingers for Valarie to do much, much better than the Prelims. Please Val...don't disappoint your parents and me...

Oct 3, 2007

Beginning of PSLE

To all my Primary 6 pupils, ALL THE BEST to you for your exams. May you guys be able to sail through all the 4 papers smoothly with as little hiccups as possible. My prayers will be with you. May you do well for the exams and move on to a good secondary school where a whole new great experience awaits. Especially to Valarie, my sporty-noisy-boisterous-helpful-loving neighbour, please don't disappont your parents and me. Give your best and please put aside your HORRIBLE(hahahahaha) attitude while sitting for the exams.

To all the parents out there, whose child is sitting for any of the major exams this year....continue to give your moral support to your child. This is the time when your child needs all the support and not nagging from Mummy and Daddy. As it is, they are exhausted from the continuous revision. Hence, let's not add further pressure on them. They are humans just like us, who need all the TLC(Tender Loving Care).

Tll then, God bless....

So Sleepy...!!!

What a way to start the day! With sleepiness? All thanks to me not having my cup of coffee during my pre-dawn meal just now. Look at what is happening to me now!!! I am having problems opening up my eyes. What's worse....sitting in an-airconditioned staff room, the sleepier I feel.

Arrggghhh...let me do some stretching exercises first. Hopefully that will perk me up abit. Luckily there's no reason for me to stay in school till quite late. So, when the bell rings at 12.50p.m., once I have dismissed all the angels from school...I will run back home and head for the bed! Frankly speaking, I have been feeling rather lethargic lately, especially since I was down with the sore throat. That sore throat that I had, caused me to have 4 days of high fever! Last week was quite a terrible week for me when my sore throat acted up against me. Was on medical leave on Wednesday. Went to the clinic but the doctor did not start me on any antibiotics. I was given 2 days' MC but I only used up 1 day.

Went back to school on Thursday when I should be resting at home. No choice....I had to bring a class of 40 pupils to Sree Narayana Mission Home for the Aged and Sick for their CIP. After the trip, my fever got worse. Normally, it takes me only 10 minutes to walk to and from school. However, last Thursday, it took me HALF HOUR to walk because I was so sick. I wanted to take the cab but I thought my home was so near that it would be redundant to take the cab.
as I was walking home, I just felt like crying my heart out as my legs were trembling and my head was throbbing furiously. The moment I reached home, I headed for my bed and BAM! I slept all the way till 7pm!

After waking up, took my medication. At 3am on Friday, my fever shot up once again. I decided not to go to work that day. So at 10a.m., I went back to the clinic. By then, the doctor said that both my tonsils were swollen and that had caused my fever to shoot up. Immediately, he prescribed some antibiotics for me. Now, I have gained back my "beautiful" voice. I am EXHILIRATED that I am able to project my voice in class once again! With my powerful voice, it's so much easier to control all those angels. Hahahaha...

OK, today Hubby and I are breaking fast at Hubby's uncle's house. He lives just opposite our block. What shall I buy for them? Roti John? Doughnuts? Cakes? I am not sure yet. Shall decide later!

Oh...now that I am awake, I'd better go back to my marking. I aim to complete my marking by 10.20a.m. so that when lessons end at 12.50p.m., I can "cabut"!

Till then, God bless...

Sore Eyes 'N' Throat

Poor Hubby. He's down with terrible sore eyes. Both eyes are bloody red and watery. Wahahaha....sorry darling...it's just so funny to see you having very red eyes. You look like one of the monsters in the English syllabus that I am doing my pupils now. Actually, we bought an antiseptic eye drop on Saturday to apply into Hubby's eyes but it seems that the medication is not effective. So just now after school, I immediately accompanied Hubby to our family clinic to get his eyes checked. Dr Loh said maybe it's due to the dust at work and thereafter, viral infection. Hmm...for that, Hubby's covered with 3 days of MEDICAL LEAVE!!!

As for me, I have been having a bad sore throat since Friday. It just got worse over the weekend when I had continuous cold for 2 days and 2 nights. Maybe due to all the sneezings (I should say hard sneeze), my throat's soreness aggravates. No matter wwhat, I am still in school. No choice...as the year-end examinations are drawing nearer. Hehhe....on top of that, it's good to show to some people that even though I can't talk....with the loss of voice...I am still in school to carry out my duties faithfully. Wahahaha...How's that?

Know what??? Something unlucky happened during the second period of lessons today. My shoe strap (right side) gave way and that was it! Fortunately, I have a spare pair of old sandals tucked somewhere under my table at the staff room. So...rushed to the staff room, changed my high heels to the flat sandals and continued teaching. There goes my glamour. Wearing beautiful outfit, only to match it with a pair of old-looking sandals! Uwaaa.......On the other hand, this gives me a very good reason to shop for more working shoes....Maybe 2 or 3 more??? Hubby...don't be mad ah....promise...won't ask for your money...hehehehe....NOt that I don't have other shoes..I do have 4 more pairs for working...but you know, working among children...they are very observant of what you put on everyday. Don't be surprised that they can even remember when was the last time you put on a particular outfit, shoes or scarf! So...sometimes, I am forced to shop for more clothes and shoes so as not to be 'spotted' by these kids!

Whatever it is, today is still one of the happy days I have in school. Why??? Because....my pupils gladly and happily praised me for being beautiful! Hahahaha....What a joke...but deep inside my heart...Alhamdulillah...All praises to Allah...Now...I am in cloud nine....What shall I wear tomorrow? Let's see....for me to know, for you to find out!

Till then, God bless...

First Day of Morning Session

Today is the beginning of a new session of teaching for me. For the past 3 years, I have always been teaching in the afternoon session. But from this week till the end of the year, I will be in the morning. What a welcoming change!

This is so because there is this particular relief teacher who is supposed to teach a Primary 1 class. However, at the very last minute, she decided to call it quits saying that she's not interested in long-term assignments. Hence, I was approached by my principal last week, asking me to teach the P1 class. So right now, my own form class which is in the afternoon session, is being managed by another contract teacher who has just joined the school about a week ago.

Frankly speaking, I prefer to teach in the morning. Maybe because I am a morning person. As it is, when I was teaching at Sembawang Primary previously, I was always in the morning session so maybe due to that, I am so used and comfortable to that session. What's more, starting next year, my school's system is changing to a 3-3 system. That means, 3 levels in the morning and 3 levels in the afternoon. Greenwood can never go for the 4-2 approach as our pupil population is quite high and there is insufficient number of classrooms to accommodate such arrangement. Hence, P1 to P3 pupils will be in the afternoon session and P4 to P6 pupils will be in the morning. I hope to be in the morning next year. I am more comfortable teacing a P4 class than any other levels but realistically, alot of teachers are also asking for P4 classes. Hmm....

NOT TOO SURE IF MY REQUEST WILL BE GRANTED!

Whatever it is.....life has to move on no matter which session you are in. Just do your utmost and show your worth and tap on your potential to achieve greater success in your career.

Till I have the time to write in here again, God bless...

Shopping for Hari Raya Costumes

Hubby, Hana and I were supposed to go shopping for Hana's Hari Raya dresses in town yesterday. However, there some changes in our plan as Hubbyw as down with bad sore eyes in both eyes and unfortunately, I was having a cold, which caused me to sneeze incessantly. In the end, after Asar prayer, we went to Woodlands Centre Road. There is one shop that specialises in Malay traditional costumes. Its name in Hoyen. Not promoting....but just to tell the Woodlanders...there's no need to travel all the way to Geylang just to get a pair of baju kurung (Malay costume) when they can get comparably beautiful, with quality soctumes here, at Hoyen. Of course, the only difference is, they don't have the very latest design, that is the see through long blouse, matched with either songket or batik. Other than that, I should say I am rather satisfied with their collection of costumes for both men and women, not forgetting, children! In fact, their pant suits are also wonderful and and of course they are suitable for attending functions or even to be put on to work as an office wear.

Initially we had decided to use grey colour as our theme this year. Hubby had already got his grey-coloured costume. However, when Hana and I went to Hoyen yesterday, we couldn't get the size for her. They were all of bigger sizes and my princess puts on a size 2. Therefore, change of colour scheme - GOLD! In fact, last year we had already adorned golden-maroonish kind of colour tone. Well, what to do....I can't be bothered to go all the way to Geylang just to find a costume for Hana when she only needs a pair of baju kurung just for the first day as I will make her put on dresses on subsequent days of Hari Raya. It's so cumbersome for a child her age, who is still wearing diapers and being carried around and also playful to be wearing baju kurung. At the end of the day, she will look so messy and untidy with the costume on! I'd rather that she puts dresses and pants and blouses! Well, some of you may disagree with me. It all depends on a parent's perception about what's good for the child to put on during Hari Raya.

After shopping for the costumes, we headed to Causeway Point Shopping Centre to break fast. We broke our fast at Cavana Restaurant. Then, walked about at the supposedly 'Hari Raya Bazaar'. How could they (the organiser) ever call it a Hari Raya Bazaar when most of the items sold are not even related to preparations to Hari Raya??? It doesn't make sense at all! Know what? It is exactlty the same as the usual pasar malams that are organised in neighbourhoods. Want to talk about selling stuff for Hari Raya?? You can count with fingers on one hand the number of stalls that are doing so! I was and am surprised plus disappointed with the organiser for organising such a bazaar.

Well, I guess shoppers who go there will only attack the food items. So only the food vendors will be able to earn some income from the sales of their products. It's quite common isn't it? It's always food that Singaporeans are always going after. I don't deny that as I am one of those people who go to a bazaar only to look at the different food products that are on sale.

Today Kak Intan has invited my family to break fast at her place. Alhamdulillah....no need to worry about what to prepare tonight. At the same time, can immediately leave Hana with Mummy as I will be starting to teach in the morning session tomorrow onwards, exchanging session with another teacher. Maybe I will visit Hana tomorrow after school if I can leave school early tomorrow. Hopefully not too much marking!

Gtg now....till then, God bless...

An Innocent 8-Year Old Girl's Departure...

Have you people been reading the papers or listening to the news? If yes, I am sure you have heard about the terrible departure of an 8-year old M'sian girl from this cruel world that we live in. Why? Why must such horrible things happen to innocent people? What wrong had she done to deserve such inhuman, beastly act of a psychotic idiot? I am terribly saddened to hear the news. I can feel for the parents as I have a daughter too. Should anything were to happen to my precious princess, I think I would have also killed myself just to be with her in this world and the hereafter.

I just can't bear the fact that not only Nurin Jazlin(the M'sian girl) was sexually abused but she was murdered! How cruel was the act that a cucumber and a brinjal were found stuffed in her vagina causing the rupture of her rectum! My God...I am still unable to swallow in the idea of the beastly act.

So many unsafe things have been happening in Malaysia lately to the extent that I am unsure of whether it's gonna be safe for my family to go there for a holiday or even visit my relatives. What's more, I still have living grandparents in Malacca whom I normally visit during the school holidays. With such happenings occuring almost everyday, my sense of security is challenged.

However, I think I should just brave through the fear and visit my grandparents this December holidays after bringng Hana for a short trip to China, InsyaAllah...

Well, got to go now. Hana has already woken up from her nap. Got to get ready now. Promised her to go shopping for more Hari Raya clothings for her. No...we are not going to Geylang. I will try to avoid Geylang as much as possible during Ramadhan. Since we are getting dresses for her, I may decide to go to either Orchard Road, Suntec City or Marina Square. On top of that, Brother Mamam has invited us to have iftar(break fast) at his place..Hmm...what shall we do? It shall be decided later when I am getting ready.

Till then....take care and God bless....

A Very Busy Term 4!

Just wanna share that this term, being the last term in the school calendar, is rather a fast-paced and super busy period. This is the time when the teachers in school are busy gearing up the pupils for the year-end examinations, especially when your class is slower than the others in terms of completing the syllabus.

As for the primary 6 pupils, they are left with literally 1 week before the 'D' day comes. Hahahah...what I am trying to say is PSLE starts on 3rd of October. So can you imagine the agony and panic all the P6 teachers are feeling at the present moment? Obviously each and everyone of them is going really beyond what is expected of him to make sure that the pupils are fully ready and well-prepared for the big exam.

However, I realise that as the day is coming nearer, the more the pupils slacken in their revision momentum. Why? Are they feeling worn out? Well, maybe....I do sympathise with them but it's really Hobson's choice. Expectations are high and all parents are hoping for the best from their children. All I should say is, parents should be realistic in setting goals for the kids so as not to over-pressurise them. This will only deter the child to perform better. At the same time, there are parents who are rather oblivious of what is required for their child to do well for the exams. Worse still, there are parents who don't even know what is the criteria for their child to enter secondary school!!! What is happening here then? Should we blame the child for not having any target or goal? You decide. I have personally encountered parents who are rather laid back, they leave all the revision wholly to the child. How are we going to know if our child is revising correctly when we are not there to supervise? Well, some parents may argue that they are not well-versed in the P6 syllabus. I am not expecting them to know how to solve all the Math problems in the revision papers. What's important, you take note or your child's weaknesses and immediately seek help, if need be. What's the point of leaving your child on his own when he can't even perform a simple task and yet set an impossible target for him? Does it make sense at all? It's definitely for you to ponder upon.

Till then....got to go to class now.

P/s: School is celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival tonight from 7.30pm to 9.30om. Still have not decided whether to join in the fun or not. Anyway, it's the fasting month. Hubby said he intends to shop for Hana's Hari Raya costume tonight. Hmm...will only decide later.

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak

Hi there...yesterday was the start of the holy month of Ramadhan. Would like to take this opportunity to wish all Muslims out there Ramadhan Al-Mubarak. May Allah SWT accept our ibadah and grant us with good health throughout this month to practise our ibadah faithfully, Ameen...

Yesterday hubby and I had fried rice for break fast. Two of our neighbours were kind enough to give us some food too. My next door neighbour gave me a potato dish and the neighbour above me, gave us nasi lemak. That was really alot for just the two of us to finish up. We ended up not eating the fried rice!

Today I am preparing chicken soto. Mummy is coming over to break fast with us because Daddy is not in Singapore. He has gone to Malacca to visit my grandparents. I am not too sure when he will be back. Tomorrow hubby, Hana and I will be breaking fast at my sister-in-law's house. Hmm....wonder what she is going to prepare.

Well, time for me to go..I have not done my prayer yet. Till then, do take care and God bless!

Swimming @ Bukit Batok CSC

Last week, brought Hana swimming at Bukit Batok Civil Service Club. Had been promising her for quite a while and eventually, managed to fulfill our promise only last weekend. She had a lot of fun swimming, riding the waves at the wave pool, going down the slides and eating great food prepared from home and bought at the cafe there. She swam for almost 3 hours before hubby and I called it quits for her. Was rather unhappy but unfortunately, it was too long already for her. We didn't want her to catch a cold after that. We promised her to go swimming again after Hari Raya. Below are some pictures taken at Bukit Batok CSC

Hana's 2nd Birthday Celebration

On the 11th of August 2007, we celebrated Hana's 2nd birthday. Started off with some prayers, in conjunction with Prophet Muhammad's birthday. After the 2-hour long prayer, we started the cake-cutting ceremony.

Hana was overjoyed as all her cousins were there to celebrate this joyous occasion with her. It wasn't a grand celebration. We only invited family members, close relatives and neighbours. So to my friends out there, please don't be offended for not being invited. We had a bashing birthday celebration for Hana last yearand all of you were part of it. So this year, we thought of doing something simple only.

Although simple, Mom ended up cooking so many dishes and my god-sisters, thanks to them, came with various kinds of desserts. Mom-in-law contributed a carton of longans!

Now, let's enjoy some more photos taken during the celebration.

P/s: Next year, not going to have the celebration at home. Hmm....maybe we shall just treat our family members to dinner at some restaurant, Insya-Allah...
